Important when installing
The Mavic 610 RD/URD requires special machining of the bottom bracket shell, which differs from a standard bottom bracket shell.
The bottom bracket shell must be faced/machined using Mavic’s special bottom bracket tool to achieve the correct 45° chamfer. The chamfered surface is an essential part of Mavic’s installation system and works with the bottom bracket’s conical mounting parts.
This means that a standard 68 mm bottom bracket shell may not be ready for installation of this bottom bracket. The shell must be machined correctly to Mavic’s specifications, and the correct Mavic tool must be used to achieve the proper fit.
This bottom bracket should therefore only be installed in a shell that has been correctly prepared for the Mavic system.

- Mavic 631 Starfish – double
- The Mavic 631 series with a 114 mm axle specification
- Other Mavic square-taper crank arms specified for a 114 mm axle length
Description
Vintage Mavic 610 RD / URD bottom bracket with 114 mm square axle for classic Mavic crank arms. The 610 RD was produced from 1984 to 1988 and continued as the 610 URD from 1989. The 114 mm version is primarily intended for the double-chainring Mavic 631 Starfish crankset.
The bottom bracket is a unique Mavic design and differs from traditional bottom brackets in both construction and installation. It was developed for Mavic’s own bottom bracket and crank arm system, making it particularly relevant for original Mavic builds and restorations.
